Millz “El Negro Mezclador”, Mextape, and Yuji have all played an important role in connecting Cumbia from Coast to Coast. Millz is a DJ under the Like That Records Mundo, bringing his own spin on Cumbias. Last October, he opened up for hellotones at Ambiente Central in Los Angeles.
Before his L.A. debut, Millz dropped a cumbia rebajada mix titled “Low and Slow”, a must listen!
Mextape is an MC bringing people to their feet at Cumbia dances with his unapologetic energy. He is the main bridges connecting Turbo Sonidero and hellotones, making the genesis of the bicoastal connection.
Without Yuji, the image of PueblaYork would be incomplete. Yuji is the videographer documenting the music and energy coming out if PueblaYork. He is also a model for one of the most impactful clothing brands of our time, Willy Chavarria.
This week they join us to talk about building bicoastal Cumbia connections, ‘doing it yourself’ in music, punk influences, and merging musical styles.
